Focused on Film: Charter NEX joins Haney’s Via Alliance™ Program

CINCINNATI, OH – May 7, 2018 – Charter NEX is North America’s leading independent manufacturer of specialty films. With six manufacturing sites, and a seventh currently under construction in Blythewood, South Carolina, Charter NEX has one thing on its mind… film.

Specializing in blown and cast film extrusion, David Bartish, Business Development Manager at Charter NEX Films, says the company is laser focused on producing only the highest quality solutions, whether it be mono-layer, multi-layer, barrier, or specialty film. “One of the key elements to our growth has been our ability to focus exclusively on film. This focus has enabled us to produce high quality, consistent films from run to run. Since sealant films are one of the most critical components of a package in terms of mass and performance, the focus on quality and consistency has enabled our customers to spend more time focusing on their customers’ needs.”

This singular commitment to film is why Charter NEX adds depth to Haney’s world class VIA AllianceTM program.

“We are excited to onboard Charter NEX Films into Haney’s VIA AllianceTM consumer packaging materials and technology library. Charter NEX is an innovative company that provides high-performance flexible packaging films to numerous, top of mind CPG brands,” says Dan Haney, co-founder and president of Haney. “Charter NEX, Haney and our other VIA AllianceTM supply chain partners, offer a one-of-a-kind package development platform that connects, inspires and accelerates breakthrough solutions for today’s fast moving CPG companies.”

VIA, launched in 2015 as a compliment to Haney’s prototyping, sales sample, and e-commerce capabilities, was designed to connect brands to raw materials suppliers. The intent of the program was to enable brands to explore new print effects/finishes, materials, and technologies that inspire disruptive, out-of-the-box brand packaging solutions. “We look forward to infusing Charter NEX films into our clients upstream brand package initiatives, and are excited about their can-do attitude and willingness to develop custom solutions for our fast moving, go-to-market initiatives,” says Haney.

“We love the concept of the VIA program. Being able to work with the end users during the development process allows Charter NEX to customize solutions to meet the performance needs for any given application” says Bartish.

James Rosenberger, Lead Technical Engineer at Charter NEX, says he believes they can develop the perfect film solution for any need. “As a technical team, we take pride in bringing a solution to any problem or application that is brought to us. With a technical team of over 20 engineers, many of which bring experience across the industry, we can find answers to most any problem.”

According to Bartish, the visibility to CPGs provided by VIA, is a very powerful selling point and will enable Charter NEX to find solutions for brands early in the development process.

In addition to bringing custom films to market, Charter NEX continues to create new specialty products. This commitment to innovation has allowed for the creation of a new line of sustainable films called GreenArrow®.

The GreenArrow® family of film solutions aims to rewrite the misconception that in order to produce more sustainable packaging, performance must be compromised. “We are now able to introduce films that contain up to 40% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content,” says Bartish. “In addition to films which contain PCR, the GreenArrow® line consists of barrier and multi-layer PE films which meet the content requirements for store drop-off recycling programs where PE recycling streams are available.“

Apurva Shah, Marketing Manager at Charter NEX, says “The GreenArrow® portfolio of films is one of many examples on how Charter NEX is committed to relentlessly finding A Better Way.”

According to Shah, GreenArrow® films will enable brands to showcase their products with packaging that is not only superior in performance and aesthetics, but also enables them to lower their carbon footprint. “Brand owners see packaging as a key component to deliver both their brand’s message and product safely. Today, performance and sustainability seem to be a trade-off. Through ongoing developments in GreenArrow® films, we strive to continue re-writing that equation.”
